Selena Quintanilla's childhood and beginnings in music deeply marked her life. She was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas, into a family where music was an essential part of everyday life. From an early age, Selena demonstrated an innate love for singing and a vocal ability that surprised everyone around her. Her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., upon realizing her extraordinary talent, decided to support her and guide her on her artistic path. In the early 1980s, the Quintanilla family had economic problems and the restaurant was closed. They decided to dedicate themselves completely to music, traveling around Texas to play at any event possible.

Lived in a van while touring and performed at weddings, fairs and Tejano music clubs. Although the road was not easy, Selena never stopped smiling on stage.

First Recognitions and Recordings

In 1984, with only 13 years, Selena recorded her first album with Freddie Records, although he did not have much commercial success. However, his charisma and talent caught the attention of the industry.

First achievements:

    • In 1986, he won the «Best Female Vocalist» at the Tejano Music Awards.

    • She became the youngest artist to receive this recognition.

These first steps laid the foundation for its future stardom in Tejano music.
